GAHFU is proud to introduce Lidereibugu Drumming & Dance Ensemble and to make it available for cultural performances and/or workshops at colleges, universities and any cultural event around town and out of town. We also offer Garifuna history, workshops. This cultural group was born out of the ranks of GAHFU's Garifuna Language & Culture Academy of Los Angeles and has evolved under the leadership of Erica Zuñiga Chipman, Director of Arts & Cultural Performances. The Lidereibugu Garifuna Ensemble (LGE) - a cultural dancing, singing, & drumming group - was born out of the ranks of the Garifuna American Heritage Foundation United, Inc.'s (GAHFU's) Language & Culture Academy of Los Angeles. "Lidereibugu" means "Powerful" in Garifuna, and LGE has evolved under the leadership of Erica Zuñiga Chipman, Director of Arts & Cultural Performances. Based in Los Angeles, California, LGE's objective is to preserve our traditional & contemporary Garifuna songs, dances, and drumming. As Garifuna women and men connected to the lands of Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Yurumein (St. Vincent), we are the lifeline of the Garifuna culture and it is our legacy to maintain and share it with the world.
